S1 - SHOP TIME

(pre-reqs - Membership, Units B2, H1 and subject to shop manager approval) - $12hr, materials extra (bring your own materials to save a bit!)

Ages 16+, duration variable, depending on schedule

Use all your new skills to make whatever you want! This is a resident artist slot that allows the student to use the shop for their own personal project under supervision. 

Tools available are: Anvils, hand tools, 12t hydraulic press (riveting, etc),  250t 4 post platen type hydraulic press, 8 ton tall flypress, coke/coal forges, propane forges, forced air forges, induction forge, mill and lathe, CNC Plasma Table, Welding equipment, tumblers and media blasters, ironworker, bandsaws, etc, etc, with more tools coming as the shop continues to grow! Some of our tools may ONLY be used under either supervision, or will be operated for you, depending on student experience level and aptitude.

It's a good idea to draw up your ideas, and bring your own materials to complete it. We have some items, but this is a working shop, and much of our inventory is dedicated to active jobs, so bringing your own is much appreciated!

ONLY projects approved by the shop manager may be worked on in the shop. All project ideas and drawings MUST be submitted to the shop manager prior to commencement of work, and are subject to inspection after completion. 

No items of an illegal or otherwise harmful nature may be made during shop times. Edged tools are mostly exempt from this rule. Please use common sense.

 

Please remember, Blacksmithing can be dangerous, and as such, the shop CODE OF CONDUCT MUST be adhered to at all times within the shop walls. Anyone found to be acting in an unsafe manner intentionally will be asked to leave for their safety and those around them.
